I made this painting referring to a photograph by wildlife photographer Alvis Lasarus. He is a avid wildlife photographer who captures subtle emotions of the animals. This deer looked lost in the jungle. The anxiety and fear was well captured. I wanted to recreate the same emotion of the deer with a different background. 
 
I painted the deer in realistic style with water colour to capture the beautiful colours of the fur and bright eyes. Meanwhile, I painted the background blurred with complimentary colours to create a subtle contrast.
