Pink Flowers; colour pencils on cartilage paper, 290X420mm; unframed
 
These pink flowers bloom in spring in southern part of India. They resemble apple and cherry blossoms. Then only difference is that the tree has more green leaves than the flowers. However, for an artist like me, it gives a feel of being among cherry blossoms even without travelling to Japan. I would have loved to sit under this tree for hours and paint these flowers. That's a lot of day dreaming.  But I couldn't resist painting these flowers. 
 
Their lovely powder pink loose petals with contrasting yellow stamen is a joy to work with colour pencils. I added the monarch butterfly to add some motion in the painting. This painting can be a lovely decor bringing in some soft and tenderness to the place.
